"Self Portrait" is an evolving, single piece of work composed of portraits of people in the artist's daily life, those who impacted the artist's character in a significant way, and random encounters. The work conveys that our 'self' to the outward world is only as others see us; and speaks to the possible gap between who we are, who we want to be, and how we are seen. The piece focuses on the mimetic concept in art, the impact of tonal values, and the importance of the eyes to convey character and feeling.
